What is Konnect?

Creating the perfect symbiosis between students and professionals

The students can get both experience as well as money and also recognition by selling their products.

The organizations get their work done and also find talent they can hire in future because they can judge them on the basis of their performance on these projects.

The Transition

from academia to industry

Theoretical knowledge, however thorough, is not how industry works in reality. Furthermore, the most important thing is to learn how to work in a team, which comes only with experience. Most major companies give internships on a referral basis and working in small ventures does not do justice to students’ skills and potential. The fact remains that gaining industrial experience during their undergraduate studies is an efficient way for students to land up in the companies where they want to work.

The Opportunity

There can be some ideas which can achieve huge success if given proper guidance. Students sometimes hit upon great ideas which are not implemented because they think that the ideas are not good enough. Even if they try implementing, due to lack of knowledge on how to proceed, success isn’t achieved. Here, students can find a mentor to guide them along with other people, from different domains, who are willing to work on that idea.This is where you can find the perfect team to realise your dream project.

Apply

Interested students select one of the listed projects, or propose one to work on.

Code

Accepted students spend the time coding with guidance from a mentor.

Earn

Students submit their code and earn a stipend!

Students

Students select the projects based on their interest and skills required for the projects. After selecting their project, they contact the mentor organizations they want to work with and draft a project proposal for the summer. If accepted, students spend time integrating with their organizations prior to the start of coding. Students then have to code the project, meeting the deadlines agreed upon with their mentors.

Organisations

Organizations post list of projects on the website for the students.Organizations also discuss promising ideas with students and then decide on the proposals they wish to mentor for the project. They provide mentors to help guide each student through the program.

Mentors

Existing contributors within the organizations can choose to mentor a student project. Mentors and students work together to determine appropriate milestones and requirements for the summer. Mentor interaction is a vital part of the program.
